Duncan R. Hickman

Attorney – Of Counsel

Duncan Hickman is a trial lawyer at Woron & Dhillon, LLC, where his practice centers on personal injury, premises liability, property and casualty insurance claims, and related probate matters across South Carolina. At the firm, he represents individuals and property owners in serious injury cases and disputes with their insurance companies, including denied or underpaid property damage claims arising from storm damage, fire loss, water intrusion, and other significant losses. He handles cases from initial investigation through settlement or trial, negotiates directly with insurers and defense counsel, and regularly helps families navigate the probate court by securing the appointment of Personal Representatives and guiding small estates through the process.

Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Duncan grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, before returning home to attend the Darla Moore School of Business, where he double majored in Finance and Real Estate. That background gives him a practical understanding of economic damages, property values, and the financial impact serious injuries and property losses have on his clients and their families.

Duncan’s legal career began at a notable South Carolina defense firm on Litigation Insurance Defense Team 1 (“LIT1”), defending contractors and companies involved in large hotel, condominium, and apartment projects in construction defect and property damage cases. His work included evaluating risk, working with insurance carriers, and helping develop defense strategies in high-exposure matters—experience that now informs how he builds and litigates cases against insurers and corporate defendants.

He later moved to a local plaintiffs’ firm, focusing on motor vehicle collisions and premises liability cases. There, he worked directly with injured clients, coordinated case strategy, and helped move files from intake through resolution, strengthening his trial-minded approach to plaintiffs’ work.

Motivated by a strong respect for those who served, Duncan has also advocated for veterans through a Veterans Legal Clinic, providing pro bono assistance in disability benefits disputes and family law matters involving alimony and child custody.

Duncan splits his time between Charleston and Columbia. Outside the office, he enjoys traveling, playing hockey and guitar, and supporting Gamecock athletics.
